Cruising the streets.

Some of you may know that another passion of mine is paintball. I’m proud to say my team VIGILANTE recently took first place in the open division at the UWL national tournament in Chicago, IL. The feeling I get when competing in tournament paintball is indescribable. I love it. It’s similar to trying to describe what riding BMX does for all of us. People just don’t get it unless they actually do it.

Just a quick update here. It you didn’t check any of my social net works the last 4 weeks. The big news with me is I’m finally done recording my full length record named “Escapism”. It has been a long time in the making, but through a lot of luck, patience, and a lot of help from some great people, namely Jeff Livingston, Ron Marschall and Ray Barbee the recording part is done. Mixing is set for next month, then it has to be mastered. So its not available YET, but a lot of it is done. And will be ready this summer, no release date yet, but soon!
It was a wild ride during the 2 weeks of recording, I couldn’t be happier how everyday went, Some days were harder than others, but I had waited so long for this and it felt so great to finally be getting it done. I met a hand full of real musicians through this process and made a few friends along the way that seriously inspired me. And turns out they ended up playing on the record, like Ron Marschall (I could freak out still over him playing in Christie Front Drive, but I’m really trying to hold it together) and Jeff Livingston. Jeff did so much; Producer role, song arranger, co-writer, and played piano, bass, tambourine, he did a lot. And Ray Barbee. Ray completely killed it on this record and his playing is unreal. It is an honor to have him on Escapism. Matt Wiser played pedal steel guitar on some tracks as well. So cool to see him add to this record. This entire thing has left me speechless honestly, its only been a week since we wrapped it all up and I’m still digesting all that happened. I can’t thank the guys I mentioned enough for there efforts and patience and the fact that they cared to be part of this.

I got a good morning session in at a concrete park. I really like this park a lot. It’s not the biggest park out there, but it definitely offers a variety of obstacles to ride.

This bowl is super mellow, but so fun to ride.

I’m all for unique street spots. Take this one for example.

What you can’t see is the rest of the artwork at the bottom. Below are firefighters catching the falling cat. There’s lots of unexpected cool artwork throughout Richmond.

Even though the track was in bad shape because of winter, it was still fun visiting the place I grew up racing at. This is where a lot of it all started. Brought back tons of good memories.

Aside from a BMX session in Richmond, IN…I have also been putting some time in the woods on my Eastern 26″ bike and on the paintball field.

Weekend before last I went to South Bend, IN with my roommate Vince Byron to the Kitchen Skatepark contest. They were holding their annual “Stay Strong” contest. That place is amazing! I was trying to jump this hip/gap from a 6 foot quarter over the back railing to another section into a hip for the box section. Was over rotating just enough I put a foot down and tweaked my knee a bit.
I have been icing, stretching, and working at getting my mobility and strength back in it. I would like to be 100% for Simple Session next week but at this point I am  just hoping my knee is good enough to ride around and have fun until its back to 100%.
